Safeguard measure (extra duties) on imports of Polyethylene terephthalate

Turkey imposed safeguard measure on imports of Polyethylene terephthalate (HS code: 39076100). According to the Ministry of Economy's communique published today, safeguard shall be in the form of extra duties. Extra duty rates were determined at 6.40% in the first year (8 Nov. 2017-7 Nov. 2018), 6.20% in the second year and 6.00% in the third year. Related regulation of the Ministry entered into effect on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette (28 October 2017). It is important to note that developing countries were exempted from the duties mentioned.
